Domestic workers
DESeRVE DIGNITY NOT FEAR!

Our recent study on live-in domestic workers found that
over 35% of workers interviewed  do not feel safe in their workplace.

Lack of employer compliance with South Africa’s labour laws leaves workers isolated and intimidated, increasing their vulnerability to physical and sexual abuse.

Small changes go a long way. Providing workers with the contracts and payslips that are required by the law, with safe living quarters and decent wages, can change a livelihood of fear and exploitation to one of dignity and opportunity.

One of the aims of the Constitution is to heal the divisions of the past,
improve the quality of life of all citizens and free the potential of each person.

Unfortunately domestic workers have not basked in the fulfilment
of this constitutional promise.
